Activity 35

Hadashi no Tabi( HNT)の第5 章全体をシャドーイングしてみよう。10分間練習しよう。

The following words all end with a ‘t’. Practice pronouncing them for a minute or two (YouTube). Read them as word pairs.
  • short night
  • difficult fact
  • at airport
  • first last
  • left shut
  • must start
  • it didn’t
  • but not
  • just want
Now listen to HNT Chapter 5 (where you’ll encounter those words) and shadow along.

HNT Chapter 5

In just one week, I will be in Japan.

First, I need to catch a bus. From Dunedin, it takes six hours to reach Christchurch airport.  From Christchurch, I will fly to Hong Kong. From Hong Kong I fly to Fukuoka. It will take me two days. I will need to sleep a night or two on buses, planes and at airports.

Travel is not so cheap. In fact, it is often expensive. However, I like to travel because you can see and enjoy many things. Sometimes, it’s not easy. Sometimes it’s difficult. But always, when I remember my trips, I enjoy my memories. I enjoy both the good times and the bad times.

At last, the day has come. Today, I leave for Japan. I open the door of my house and step outside. I shut the door behind me, and start walking.

Outside, it is evening, and it is dark. It’s cold, because it is autumn in New Zealand. There are stars in the sky and there’s a moon. I’m finally on my way.

First, I must walk to work. I left my luggage there. I didn’t want to carry it there all the way from home. From work, it’s a short walk to the bus station.

As I arrive, so does the bus. As soon as I climb inside, it leaves. The trip has started.
