Activity 29

Hadashi no Tabi( HNT)の第4章全体をシャドーイングしてみよう。10分間練習しよう。

The following words all end with a ‘y’. Practice pronouncing them for a minute or two (YouTube). Read them as word pairs.
  • plenty heavy
  • very busy
  • actually enjoy
  • already my holiday
  • journey by
  • many days
  • they only
  • any way
  • carry quickly
Now listen to HNT Chapter 4 (where you’ll encounter those words) and shadow along.

HNT Chapter 4

I like to walk. I like to run. I enjoy writing haiku. I teach English. I also like to read books.

I have hundreds of books. Many of them are about travel. I like travel books where the people walk, run, ride bicycles, and ride horses. I don’t like books about traveling in cars, ships and planes so much.

More than one hundred years ago, walking was a sport. People walked for days without sleeping. There were walking champions of the world. These days, there are marathons, ultra-marathons, mega runners, journey runners, transcontinental runners and so on.

Mami and I both like reading. When we travel, we like to read. But books, even paperbacks, are heavy, so we should read the same books. They should be in English, because I can’t read Japanese. But English books are sometimes hard to find in Japan. What should I do?

Perhaps I should write a book instead. It could be about our trip in Japan. That would keep me busy. Perhaps this is the book.
